Ronald S. Rochon Named President of California State University, Fullerton

Ronald S. Rochon has been named president of California State University, Fullerton. His presidency will begin on July 22.

California State University, Fullerton enrolls over 35,000 undergraduate students and 5,000 graduate students. Black students represent only 2 percent of the undergraduate population.

Currently, Dr. Rochon is president of the University of Southern Indiana, where he has worked for the past 14 years. Prior to his promotion to president in 2018, he served as the university’s provost for eight years.

Before becoming the chief academic officer of the University of Southern Indiana, Dr. Rochon served as the inaugural dean of the School of Education and associate vice president for teacher education at Buffalo State College in New York. Previously, he held various academic leadership positions with the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse including co-founder and director of the Research Center for Cultural Diversity and Community Renewal, interim director of the School of Education, and associate dean of the health and physical education college. Earlier in his career, he held teaching positions with Texas A&M University and Washington State University.

Dr. Rochon is a graduate of historically Black Tuskegee University in Alabama. He received his master’s degree and a doctorate in educational policy studies from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
